Moving Along
This is our dossier -- or most of it since we're still waiting on our immigration approval. In these documents, you could find pretty much anything you want to know (or didn't want to know) about our family. Income, health history, number of pets (and whether they are current on vaccinations -- yes, I'm serious), religious affiliation, views on discipline of children, family traditions, how we met, how we divide household chores; it's all in there. These documents have been notarized, certified by the Secretary of State and authenticated by the Chinese Embassy. No question about their authenticity! They were sent to our agency last month along with pictures of our house and family, and they will be translated and sent to the proper agency in China as soon as we receive our immigration approval. The application was filed October 11. At that time, approvals were taking around 60 days; so we expected to have ours by early December. Unfortunately, they are now taking around 75 days; so it will probably be early January before everything is finalized and we are DTC (adoption lingo that means "Dossier to China"). That should still put us on track for spring travel. It's completely out of our control, so I'm choosing not to think about it too much! In the meantime, we were able to order a birthday cake to be delivered when Christian turns seven this weekend. Rejoicing that this will be his last birthday without a family and hoping we will get some pictures of his big day!
