Medical Exam

This morning, we met the other two families who are with our agency and took all three children to the medical clinic for the required examination.  The clinic has moved to a new building closer to our hotel, and it is much nicer than the old one; but the exam is still pretty much a joke.  As with everything else we've done, Christian just grinned and cooperated with everything they asked him to do.  The exam consists of three stations -- measurements, ENT, and general body check.  He walked into each room with a smile and a "Hello!" and left with a "Xie Xie (thank you)!"  According to their measurements, he weighs about 50 pounds and is about 44 inches tall.  The happiness and cooperation went out the window when it was time for the TB test.  He watched intently as the nurses made the preparations then decided it was time to go!  The tears were short-lived though.  In a matter of minutes, he was right back to his bubbly self.

After lunch at Pizza Hut, we headed for the local equivalent of WalMart for some supplies --  important things like cookies and Coke Zero (sadly, there is no Diet Coke here)!  Just like home, buying groceries on a Saturday afternoon is not a great idea; but we survived.  We're hanging out in the hotel for a while playing with the toys we got at the wholesale market yesterday and will head back out soon to explore a little more.

Christian is going to fit right in with our other boys.  He has discovered the gun app on the Ipod touch and just grins and laughs when he shoots things and blows things up.  Just another thing we'll have to keep an eye on!
