We left Hong Kong at 10:25 Thursday morning, flew for 15 hours and 15 minutes, had a layover of a couple of hours in Detroit (just enough time to make it through immigration and customs and get to our connecting flight -- which ended up being delayed), flew for another hour and a half, gathered our suitcases, and drove for three hours; and we were home before 10:00 p.m. Thursday night! Christian traveled amazingly well! He loved the airplanes and was much easier to entertain than I had anticipated. Or maybe it was just that I wasn't the one sitting beside him -- strategic planning on my part! He only slept for a few hours and was pretty slap happy by the time we got home. He was greeted by three VERY excited siblings, and he jumped right in like he had known them forever. We managed to get everyone settled down and in bed before 11:00. We were anticipating sleep issues for all of us; but, thankfully, we all slept very well. Had to wake Christian up around 9:45 this morning. There's still time for insomnia to show up, but we've been very pleasantly surprised that we haven't had the terrible jet lag we usually have. All of the kids have been going strong all day, and we get constant updates on Christian's every move. They adore him so far. Hope that feeling continues when the novelty starts to wear off!
Christian is having a blast checking out the house and the toys. Right now he is marching around wearing Madison's sandals, blowing on a deer call, and carrying a balloon decorated like an American flag. Earlier, he explored all the fun stuff in the garage -- scooters, balls, Nerf guns, ride-on toys and all sorts of things. The only problem is the dogs. He's terrified of them, but he has already made progress with that and managed to at least give the puppy a little pat while someone else held her. Won't be long until he's in the middle of them. He lit up when he saw the swimming pool! Looking forward to spending some time there this weekend -- if I can break away from the laundry.
Thanks so much for the encouraging words and prayers. They meant so much and were truly felt!
